Categories and Definitions
100. Large Quilts- Quilted on Home Machine or Midarm …… Circumference 320” or larger… Quilting was done by moving the fabric with the machine stationary (no applique)
200. Large Quilts – Quilted on Longarm Machine…. Circumference 320” or larger … Quilting was done with the fabric stationary and the machine was moving over the fabric (no applique)
300. Wall Hanging Quilts –Home Machine or Midarm…. Circumference greater than 160” and less than 320” … Quilting was done by moving the fabric with a machine stationary (no applique)
400. Wall Hanging Quilts- Longarm Machine… Circumference greater than 160” and less than 320” … Quilting was done with the fabric stationary and the machine was moving over the fabric (no applique)
500. Applique: Hand or Machine Applique …Circumference size greater than 160” Quilts that contain any type of applique (hand or machine) ... quilting for this category can be any technique
600. Hand Work: Hand Pieced and/or Hand Quilted… Circumference size greater than 160” Quilts that have been hand pieced and or hand quilted
700. Small Quilts Sides less than or equal to 40” (160” circumference or less) … quilting for this category can be any technique
800. Baby/Juvenile Quilt … circumference of less than 240“ and circumference greater than 160” quilt is intended for crib or pre-teen use ……..quilting for this category can be any technique ……

900. Panels … any size,,,,,,, any quilt that has 20 % of the surface area or more that has a picture or scene in the fabric and that a significant portion of that picture or scene is still intact after piecing. Also, the fabric with the picture was meant to be acquired by the “panel or repeat” rather than by the yardage. Since in Stack and Whack and One Block Wonder type quilts the original scene is no longer intact those type quilts would not be entered in this category …. quilting for this category can be any technique
1000. Fiber Arts/Home Décor/Wearables., and Misc. …. Placemats, table runners, jackets, vests, etc. … and quilts that do not fall into any other category … any size, must be at least two layers and have some quilting … quilting for this category can be any technique
2000. New Quilter …Made by person that has been quilting for two years or less…. any size, and quilting for this category can be any technique
3000. Youth entry… Made by person 16 years old or less …any size, and quilting for this category can be any technique
