2023 Block of the Month Inspired Challenge
"Mystery Quilt"

This year we are combining our mystery quilt with our challenge quilt.

Who: Open to anyone who did a quilt "Block of the Month" or still wants to.

What: Create a project related to quilting (Example: lap quilt, bed quilt, wall hanging, home accessory, garment) using any one or combination of any 2021-2023 "guild block of the month".  The patterns are listed and available here.  You can change the block sizes and colors.  Include a label on the back containing your project title, your name and date.

Blocks are nine patch, patriotic star, house, Christmas tree, buttercup and goose chase.

When: your block creation is due at the April 13th, 2023 meeting.  Please put it into an opaque bag.  When you  turn it in, prior to the meeting, it will be assigned a number.  Keep it secret!  No sharing!  No peeking.

Where: Regular meeting at Jefferson United Methodist Church Fellowship hall at 1:00 PM.

Why:  We want to inspire you to be creative with your quilting and to think outside of the box.

FYI:  Prizes will be awarded in these categories, attendees will vote, stories will be told.

For the 2015 challenge, all sides had to be 20 inches long, the colors black, green and orange had to be used, there had to be at least one pumpkin and one jack-o-lantern face, the design needed to be original without the use of a kit and we were allowed to use any technique of our choosing.

2014 Challenge Quilts

During our July 2013 meeting,  envelopes with numbers on them were distributed. Each person wanting to participate took an envelope and wrote their number on a sheet of paper that was also passed around. Inside the envelope was the name of a quilt block. The challenge was to make a quilt with the sides no smaller than 20 inches and no larger than 30 inches. Participants were not to piece the named block, but to make a quilt using a play on the quilt block name.
